Taevra stood at the top of the world. With the wind whipping her hair back, she clenched her fists with tears in her eyes. Beneath her the war raged, allies fighting amongst themselves as their loyalty was split between herself and Jetomi. Inside her heart, Taevra could feel the soul tearing pain as Jet came closer. The blade in his right hand covered in blood as the combatants parted before him or were struck down. Whether friend or foe, he didn't care. His eyes were only locked on her own, glaring at her darkly as he began to climb to the ledge she stood on.
Taevra stood her ground as he slowly made his way to the top while the fighters around them slowly stopped. All eyes were focused on them now; the stage was set. Two bound by blood now would spill blood before the many witnesses below and the gods themselves. Taevra's tail swished through the air as she became slightly nervous, the battle rage was more of a sorrow than anything now. The lives that hung in the balance of this fight made her more tempted to run than to face it. Even though she looked more intimidating than Jetomi with her horns curling above her head, dragon wings, claws, feet and tail, it was impossible for her to feel the blood lust. She wasn't a fighter normally, nor did she wish to be. Clenching her claws again, the black scales traveled up her arms to her elbows, also spreading from her feet to her knees as Jet finally pulled himself over the top.
"Let's do this." He took a fighting stance, holding his sword with two hands. The sword itself was taller than Taevra and about a foot wide, curved sharply at the end with jagged teeth along the length. Experimentally he swung the sword at her, cutting across her midsection as she froze, watching the thin line of blood trail down her naval to her hips.
"You're going to kill me. You're really going to do this." She said pained, trying to find some kind of reason in the blue, green and gold eyes that stared angrily at her. He was her reason for existing this long and fighting. He was the reason the people below were dying and screaming in agony. All around them blood was pouring and souls were crying out for vengeance, even as her own wanted to sit still and let him destroy her.
"You have committed crimes far worse than I ever will. Leading the people into war and mass destruction on a whim. Taevra, take a look around you. Look at your people dying for a princess who doesn't even deserve the title. Your people are dead." Taevra glared at him, striking out with a roundhouse kick. Her temper overcame her fear of him as she slammed hard into the flat of the sword he blocked with. She leaned on the leg heavily as he held his position, glaring down at her.
"And you let your heart and soul be swayed by some sweet succubus. I'm the stupid one? I'm the one who is foolish and does things on a whim out of desperation huh? Look. At. You." She spat the words at him, pushing all her weight into the leg on the sword, sending him back a few steps as she landed, exhaling black fire at him. He jumped further away from her to avoid the stone now creeping along the grass and dirt around them.
"I may have given my soul, but I still fight for you. How can you not see that?" Jet called to her as he kept stepping back, watching the stone creep closer to where he was standing. Taevra clenched her fists and took a breath as the fire cut off, now standing straight again she stalked to him angrily. Her eyes had gone full golden now as the anger took control.
"You fight for me. You protect me. You do it all for me. Yet you have betrayed me. Sacrificing our eternity just to taste the temporary comforts of another." His expression questioned her for just a moment before he realized what she meant. The blush that tinged his cheeks just fueled her anger as she came within striking distance. In a series of kicks, she had him backed against the mountain as each word was screamed in his face. "You lied to me! You stabbed me in the back! You hid the truth from me! You didn't even try to fix this mess! You just let me suffer alone while you got yours! I should tear your head off and petrify it! How dare you even begin to blame me for this!" Jet ducked as she put her fist into the stone behind him, just where his head had been a moment ago. With a deft punch to her stomach, he knocked her back with a grunt.
"I didn't do any of that. You're the one who did that to me!" Taevra crouched and held an arm to her stomach as she narrowed her eyes at him, spitting acid at him in disgust. He sidestepped her spit as it ate through the grass, leaving a wide hole where he once stood.
"Yet I've been watching you running around, letting your new mistress ruin my people. Run them into the floor and let her demons kill them. You did nothing to protect them. Nothing to protect me." He set his jaw, dropping his sword as he tackled her, pinning her to the ground beneath him. With his hand in her hair, he sat on her back, pushing her face into the dirt.
"You really think you can pick this fight with me and win? I own you until the end of days Taevra. You could never hurt me." Taevra growled at him, showing her fangs as she twisted her head to look at him.
"I will kill you Jetomi Nicolo. I will take your existence and burn it from the face of this planet. And if I don't kill you, someone else will." Jet reached for his sword as he smiled darkly at her, those eyes taking on the blood lust she needed. With his free hand, Jet raised his sword above his head.
"This is goodbye Taevra." He began to bring his arm down as Taevra tensed up. Watching those beautiful eyes she loved for so long now looking at her coldly. The arms she trusted to embrace her and comfort her. His face she would dream of to keep her warm on the coldest of nights. Her reason for fighting the Suai for so long. Taevra closed her eyes and accepted her fate, she had lost to the man she loved and this was the price she paid for that love.

Taevra never felt the bite of the blade or the blood on her claws. The only thing she could recall was the will to live that harbored deeper than Jetomi's memories in her heart. The grass beneath her stomach was cold and wet, the scent of blood only from her claws and various wounds. None were serious; but as she touched her neck, she found nothing. Taevra was alive and couldn't remember why. Nor was she entirely sure what had happened or where she was. All around her deep grass towered over her even as she stood; the night sky showing her the pale stars high above. Hours had passed, perhaps even days. But wherever she was, she was alive and quite far from the battlefield.
"Damn, now I don't know if he's alive or what happened. But I've got another chance to kill him and this time, I can't hesitate." She grumbled, pulling herself together as she checked herself for wounds. A few pulled muscles and scrapes, but nothing too major. Whatever had happened, Jet wasn't dead yet. She knew that for certain.
